Competent Crew Practical Course
This is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines.
This course can be taken together with all other practical courses: DS, CS or YM Prep!

Minimum duration
5 days. If you have done the Start Yachting course, this course can be completed in 3 or 4 days. Typically we start on Sunday evening at 18.00 with a presentation, course introduction and Safety briefing. We continue from Monday morning to Friday afternoon at 17.00 until all the chapters in the curricula are successfully covered.

Knowledge of sea terms and parts of a boat, her rigging and sails, sail handling, ropework, fire precautions and fighting, personal safety equipment, man overboard, emergency equipment, meteorology, seasickness, helmsmanship, general duties, manners
Certificate issuing criteria
Able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines.

Format
This course takes place aboard the school boat and is residential (students sleep onboard for minimum 4 nights).
